The Future of Retail

A concertina presentation tool, designed to be used by Leslie Jones Architects in a series of lectures on the future of retail.

Leslie Jones Architecture — 2018-2019

The managing partners at Leslie Jones Architects tasked me with designing an alternative and eye-catching document to be used in a series of lectures on the future of retail. The lectures addressed the current state of the retail sector and how to reinvigorate it. To create the illustration, a stretch of high street was hand-drawn and, following some research into alternative shops and design configuration, the empty storefronts were reimagined and filled. The final drawing was 1.75-meters long and had 15 hypothetical storefronts.

The final product was printed and folded into a concertina, allowing presenters to lay the document out or stand it up, allowing the product to be adaptable to its environment. A supplemental booklet was produced for clients which outlined the main points of the presentation. The materials were highly successful and served as an excellent tool to draw interest, explain the vision, and foster imaginative thinking.
