Creepy Crawlies Exhibition
A self-initiated project to create a poster advertisement for the Natural History Museum’s Creepy Crawlies exhibit.
Self Initiated Project — 2014
The Creepy Crawlies exhibit at the Natural History Museum is one that I have visited since my childhood. After becoming aware of the display’s lack of advertisement compared to the rest of the museum I designed a poster to advertise the exhibit. The poster would act as a preliminary step towards updating the exhibition space.
Inspired by a bug’s exoskeleton and its effects on its colourful exteriors, I created a design to mimic this by using only two sheets of paper. In creating a simplified version of these creatures, the goal was to lessen the ‘creep factor’ that keeps patrons away. The paper bugs were converted into a 3D piece that was photographed for the final product and served as an entry point to a lifelong interest in paper engineering.
